Why San Diego?

Our beaches, bays, rivers, and watersheds are part of what makes San Diego home. 

But every day, trash from our streets can travel through storm drains and waterways, eventually making its way toward San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

The San Diego Trash Wheel project is exploring how a permanent trash-interception system could help stop that waste before it reaches the coast, while creating a visible, lasting environmental project for the community.
